A bit of housecleaning

metaphorly speaking- though the house does need cleaning....

First I have a few links on the left side of the page. The first is Talking Points Memo . We don't watch TV news much anymore and with sites like TPM who needs TV? Second link is Eurekalert! is essential for complete nerds like ourselves.

Next we have my sister Tina and her husband's family Blog and then my sister Michele's blog about American Sign language. I'd be happy to add links to others blogs if/when they get on the blogger bandwagon.

Let me also note that while the blogger 'program' does have a spellcheck function, it doesn't seem to work with my browser. Or it's just broken. Or I'm completely lost. Or one of more of the above. You will see misspelled words. There are no brownie points awarded for finding them.

And finally, thanks to all who have wandered back around these parts. I do enjoy sharing the ins and outs of our world with everyone else out there. We've gotten so much from our friends and family and though we often may appear somewhat indifferent and unthankful, we aren't. It's ironic that the all technology that makes the world so small- makes distance unimportant in keeping close connection to loved ones around the globe, is also the same technology that keeps our lives so helter skelter that we forget to make the time to keep those connections strong. So again I'll say thanks for being a part of our world.

A trip through time....

My oh my. Helena's fourth Halloween. More than the candy and dressing up, I think now she really enjoys scooping out the pumpkin.

The girls did go trick-or-treating through Lisa's work yesterday. Helena made out like a bandit. A bandit on a unicorn it seems...

Megan was happy to be carried around a look at all the strange sights.

I said I'd be posting enough photo to choke a 56K modem, didn't I? For those who do not have to wait an hour for photos to load, click on each of the pictures for larger, more printer friendly sizes.

And for our first In The Schutte House exclusive let me welcome Logan Zitt to the world ,and my sister Tina and her husband Mike (link on the left) to the world of parenthood.
Logan was born yesterday, October 29th at 9:34 am. Weighing in at 8lbs, 4ozs and measuring 20 and 3/4 inches! Mom and baby are doing great so we hear. So again, Hazaa!

Megan's Doctor's Visit

Let me first say I have learned more about dry repair than anyone ought to know. Well anyone who isn't regularly involved in repairing dryers. I'll just say the quick easy fix, was quick and easy but not a fix. The dryer is working now but it's a temperary repair and well I'll just leave it at that.

This little one had her four month check up on Tuesday.
Four months! Where does the time go? For those keeping up on such things for fantasy baby league or whatever here are her current stats:

  • Weight 12lb 8 oz
  • Height 24.25 in
  • Head 41 cm

She got a couple of shots and fussed mightily, but for those just starting this parenthood journey at this age to sweat those howls when their getting vaccinnes. Within an hour they don't remember it and life is grand. When they get a bit older and remember their trips to the doctor then the fun begins

Speaking of fun. The girls are trick-or-treating at school tomorrow. Lisa is taking the camera and promises photos. until then here a a few more to fill the fridge.

Megan has her four-month appointment this afternoon. I'll pass along the stats when we return.

I could be in a foul mood today. This morning I went to get some clothes out of the dryer only to find that they were still damp. Run them through again. Still damp and strangly not at all warm. Yes, our clothes dryer has be transformed into the less than useful clothes tumbler. But thanks to a screw driver and the internet the problem has been tracked down. A replacement will be obtained today and all is well.

But regardless of the appliance problems today, I am not in a foul mood.
Because I got plenty of sleep? No both girls woke us up last night (as always hours apart). No I am happy becasue I stayed up until 12:30 to watch the Cincinnati Bengals defeat the Denver Broncos 23-10 last night.
For real fun look at the predictions of how the was suppose to turn out
I see Denver blitzing like crazy, which will allow Carson Palmer to get a couple of deep throws on the Broncos, but will also create about five takeaways and possibly a concussion.
Denver - 6 1/2, thank you very much, drive through.
SG’s Fearless Final Score: Broncos 28, Bengals 17

In case you didn't stay up to watch it, Broncos had 4 turn-overs and their QB was sacked 4 times.

The girl's are off to school/work and I'm about ready to head out the door. I just stopped by to reassure everyone that I am going to keep this blog updated. If you're curious about the weather here, you can check it out here.

Yes, I know this is a pretty weak post but , it's monday morning. Give me a break.

So how do we do it? How do we keep our heads screwed on with two kids?

MMmmm wine... is there anything it can't do?
I believe Lisa is enjoying a glass of the Little Penguin shiraz.

Here's a new photo of the ladies to print out and hang on the fridge.

And Helena "reading" to Megan on the way back from the library.

Smithers release the blogs!

My new camera came in last week and I've been play around with it being the typical shutter bug dad. As I figure out the software, I promise, you'll get more picture, oh trust me you'll be sick of these pictures before too long.

There's going to be a few new things with this blog. For one you'll likely be subjected to my occasional political rants. In the past I had a separate blog for that but in the interest of keeping any blog up to date I figured I'd consolidate everything. Love me love my blog 'eh?

Also at this point I'm not too please with the coloring and layout of the blog but my merger HTML skills only afford me this layout right now.

I also have decided to go commerical. Yeah, I'm a sellout. Don't be surprised when the ads start showing up on the blog.

I'm also undecided about the comment section as of yet. I'm not happy with bloggers built in comment kit, with it's restictions and not sure about the other ones out there. Doesn't matter though, Just don't get too settled with the blog yet. The name and address will remain but until we're all happy with it anything can change.

Well here we are Posted by Hello
Just that easy to post a picture. Of course this one is horribly out of date.

New Blog

The pumpkin dirt page wasn't getting updated. Mostly because the pictures were a real bear. Had to resize them, upload them the post. Often had to resize to make everthing work. Of course I could have just not added pictures-which I guess I sort of did when I stopped updating.
Then many of the post were not just about Megan "Pumpkin dirt" but about others in the family so I thought about changing the name...
It was just a too much. So I left everyone hanging without new pictures. Without updates on how much fun life has been (that isn't sarcasm). Without your blogging fix.

Well the dry spell is over. A whole new blog. In the Schutte House.
Blogger has made it so easy now to post pictures with the program hello.
Takes less than a minute now to post a picture.

Bad news is our digital camera is broken. The toshiba PDR-M4 died right before Megan was born. It was a great little camera. Lasted nearly 5 years.
A new camera is on the way so new pictures will be on the way.

I want to say thank you to Roy McKie the illustrator for the Dr. Suess book, In a People House. I shamelessly borrowed his work.
