Stan Berenstain 1923-2005

Stan Berenstain, co-author of Helena's favorite book series died today. When Lisa mentioned it she asked if the cartoon was still going to be on in the morning. We told her all the books and TV shows he made will still be there but he won't be able to make anything new. I nearly went into an explanation about the whole when someone dies we still have the memories of them but no one said every time you have a teachable moment you have to use it.

I think I read somewhere that it isn't a "teachable" moment unless they are ready to learn. If she doesn't ask the questions, she probably isn't ready for the answer.

I'm finding it very interesting that the only news I hear that I find interesting is here. And no, I'm not just saying that to get a good Christmas gift!

BTW, send a list soon - can't guarantee you'll get anything on it, but we do like to know what folks want. I will send you a list of suggestions via email later (unless you still have the one I sent letting you know about the catalogs I sent Mom last month).

In the Schutte House first in news.

I don't have any doubt Helena was ready to learn at the moment - at her age she a little mental sponge - it was more a matter of having a discussion about life and death and grief and rememberence while trying to keep Megan from tossing here spaghetti across the kitchen.

Holiday list is being prepared on Amazon this week. Of course it will be availible for ANYONE to look at (hint hint)
